KHL club defender “Kunlun” Adam Clendening did not rule out returning to the NHL if a suitable offer was received.
In May, American Clendening signed a one-year contract with Kunlun.
— Is your decision to leave North America due to the fact that you no longer have any chance in the NHL?
– Yes, a little. In the AHL, at some point you fall under the rule of experienced players, and there are quite a few of them on the team. Teams prefer to use youngsters. So it’s time to move on and continue my career here in the KHL or somewhere in Europe.
—Do you intend to return to the NHL?
“If suddenly a team decides to make me an offer, I will not reject it under any circumstances. Do I think it will happen? I don’t know. We’ll see,” Clendening was quoted as saying by “Championship.”
In the NHL, Clendening played for Chicago, Vancouver, Pittsburgh, Edmonton, the New York Rangers, Arizona and Columbus. In total, he played 90 league games and scored 24 (4+20) points.
