Captain of an NHL club Philadelphia Flyers Sean Couturier spoke about how the striker is adapting Matveya Michkova in the team.
Michkov, who turns 20 in December, signed a standard three-year contract with the NHL team in July.
— Michkov is adapting very well to a new lifestyle, a new culture. His English seems to be improving every day and he just seems to love the game, going on the ice, working and playing hockey. He is fun to be around and wants to be the best. Of course, it is interesting to talk to him. He is a special talent and I am looking forward to seeing what he can do.
“I think we have to be careful not to judge right away. Michkov is only 19, he’s coming to a new country. I don’t know how many times he’s been here, but there’s a lot of new things in his life. I think we have to be patient and let him become the player he can become,” Couturier was quoted as saying by Flayers Nation.
Philadelphia selected Michkov seventh overall in the 2023 NHL Draft.
The Russian forward played for Sochi last season on loan from SKA. He made 47 appearances for the team and scored 41 points (19 goals and 22 assists).
