Last season, Ovechkin played 79 NHL games, scoring 65 points (31 goals, 34 assists).
Ovechkin ranks second on the NHL’s all-time scoring list with 853 goals, behind Wayne Gretzky (894). With Washington, Ovechkin won the Stanley Cup in 2018.
The new NHL season begins on October 4.
