Rotenberg on Torpedo: “You can stay in front of your goal the whole game. But does that develop hockey players?”

Head coach of St. Petersburg SKA Romain Rotenberg said that Nizhny Novgorod “Torpedo” plays low hockey.

SKA beat Torpedo in an away game of the KHL regular season – 4:3.

— A shell is when 5 people and a goalkeeper play underneath. Torpedo plays like that. This is the game system. This is exactly the kind of game: a game of counterattacks. I respect every coach and every opponent. Everyone has the right to play any game system. You can even stay in front of the goal for the whole game. But does this develop hockey players? That is another question. “I only comment on my own game, I will not analyze the Torpedo game,” the correspondent reports, reporting Rotenberg’s words.

SKA extended its winning streak in the KHL to three games; the club is in fifth place in the Western Conference standings with nine points. Torpedo lost the fourth game in a row, Nizhny Novgorod (5) is ninth.
