Lada forward Ostap Safin admitted that the Czech striker’s sporting longevity Jaromir Jagr is a mystery to him.
On Friday, the 52-year-old striker and owner of Kladno scored in the match against Sparta Prague (4:2). In the middle of the second period, Jagr made a power play with a clumsy one-handed shot. The goal eventually became the winning goal for his team.
— The legendary Czech Jaromir Jagr, at 52, will play a full season. What do you think?
— I played with Jagr two years ago, he played on par with the others, he was not inferior at all. He played as if he was just starting out and was gaining momentum. I don’t understand how he does it. Just great,” Safin told Metaratings.ru.
Jagr played for NHL club Pittsburgh from 1990 to 2001 and became a two-time Stanley Cup winner with the team. He also played for Washington, the New York Rangers, Philadelphia, Dallas, Boston, New Jersey, Florida and Calgary, and in Russia he played for Avangard Omsk.
With the national team, the striker won gold (1998) and bronze (2006) at the Olympic Games and twice won the World Championships (2005, 2010).
