Veteran of Sibir and Dynamo hockey clubs Vitaly Stein told how he was invited to the Moscow team by head coach Arkady Chernyshev.
Vitaly Stein made his debut for Dynamo Novosibirsk as a striker in 1955, and five years later he became one of the strongest players of the capital Dynamo. In 1965, the hockey player moved to Siberia.
– Arkady Ivanovich saw me, somewhere he liked me. He was the head coach of the Dynamo Moscow national team. There were training camps in Moscow, we lived there at the Dynamo stadium. There was a canteen and a hairdresser nearby. I was walking from the dining room to the hairdresser, Arkady Ivanovich comes down and asks me if I want to play for Dynamo Moscow. I said yes, to which he replied: “Wait for an invitation, go get a haircut, we don’t hire uncut people at Dynamo”, Stein shared his memories with the Championship.
Vitaly Stein is a three-time silver medalist of the USSR Championship, Honored Coach of the BSSR, Master of Sports of the USSR.
