President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin signed a decree awarding two-time Olympic hockey champion Boris Mikhailov with the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, degree II, according to the legal information portal.
“For his great contribution to the development of physical culture, the popularization of national sports and many years of conscientious work, award the Order of Merit to the Fatherland, 2nd degree, to Boris Petrovich Mikhailov, a member of the organization public interregional “CSKA Council of Veterans of Sports”, says the decree.
On Sunday, October 6, former national hockey player of CSKA and the USSR Mikhailov will turn 80 years old.
Mikhailov is a 10-time USSR champion and four-time winner of the USSR Cup. As a member of the national team, he won Olympic gold twice (1972, 1976), became eight-time world champion and seven-time European champion.
