The difference between the NHL and KHL is how teams in those leagues play on the power play, the goaltender said. CSKA Ivan Prosvetov
This offseason, 25-year-old Prosvetov moved from the Colorado system to CSKA. In nine matches this season, he has three victories with a save percentage of 90.6%.
— How are you adapting to the new league? How does this process work?
— My game system is always the same. In Russia, I have been working on this system with my trainer for six years now. I used it in North America, I use it here. Everything works.
But I already understand that there is a difference between the leagues. For example, when playing for a majority. In the NHL, the majority of players on each team are already so well matched and perfect that they show you video before the game – and during the game so that all hockey players are in the same positions. But in the KHL it’s unpredictable. Constantly there are three from the bottom, then a throw-in on one side, and not on the other, as we expected. It’s a little more difficult. On the other hand, we do the same thing. In most cases, teams have many unplayed combinations.
— As one of the goalies told me, in the NHL they try to shoot a lot, but in the KHL they play hard.
“We missed Traktor’s first goal when their player (Nikita Tertyshny) just threw it, and it flew away.” Maybe the KHL guys have more patience. A lot of people play while paused. But in principle everything is the same.
So I see the difference in the majority, that everyone has a lot of combinations. And they are not always clear. But you can adapt to this. Just move with the puck and get ahead of those passes. If you are late for the first pass, you will certainly not come for the second.
So you just try to move the puck. See where a one-touch throw can come from and where it doesn’t. We watch and analyze most of the teams. But I think everything will be fine,” Prosvetov said, according to the correspondent.
On Saturday, Traktor beat CSKA (4:0). Nikita Tertyshny scored the winning goal. On Thursday, CSKA lost to Metallurg with a score of 0:7.
