Double Russian hockey champion Ivan Nepriaev told that the Golden Puck tournament allowed the guys from Yaroslavl to enter professional clubs in Russia and North America.
On Saturday in Perm, the international competition for young hockey players “Golden Puck” among boys born in 2009-2010 ended. In the final, Sakhalin (Sakhalin region) defeated Yaroslavich (Yaroslavl region) with a score of 4:1.
— How did Perm welcome you?
– Fabulous. I am pleasantly surprised both by the city and by the organization of the tournament. I watched a little how the children played. I saw “The Golden Puck” a few years ago. I think during this period the level has increased.
— This tournament is celebrating its 60th anniversary and it is growing more and more.
— I believe that this is one of the bases for the development of hockey, while there are not only schools for the children of the teams that play in the KHL. But there are also teams that are lower in the system, but they give children a chance if they have not immediately developed and do not yet physically have time to enter the vertical of someone’s club ‘A. Such tournaments give them the opportunity to develop in order to reach the KHL, and perhaps the NHL, in the future.
— You are from Yaroslavl. Is it true that some children there did not get into big hockey thanks to the Lokomotiv system?
— Yes, for example, in Yaroslavl there was a school at the shipbuilding plant. The team played for the city championship and was called “Chaika”. And at each age there were one or two people from this team. Some have reached the KHL and even played in North America. That is, it previously worked in Yaroslavl. And now we see that the team from the Yaroslavl region has reached the final.
The geography of the “Golden Puck” is also pleasant – from Kaliningrad to Sakhalin. Children can gather in one place, now it is Perm, and measure their strength with each other, ”Nepryaev told the correspondent.
