The International Hockey Federation (IIHF) intends to include hockey in the 3×3 format in the program for the 2030 Olympic Games, the IIHF press service reports.
The corresponding proposal must be sent to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) no later than January 2025.
“It’s an exciting time as ice hockey prepares to bid for a new discipline at the Olympic Games. Over the past seven years, the IIHF has worked to pioneer the 3×3 hockey format. “We are now almost ready to present a detailed proposal for the introduction of 3×3 hockey at the 2030 Winter Olympics,” the press release states.
The 2030 Olympic Games are scheduled to be held from February 8 to 24, 2030 in the French Alps.
