General Director of Tolyatti “Lada” Alexander Chebotarev told that the club is not discussing the issue of the team’s withdrawal from the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL ) due to financial problems.
On Tuesday, the governor of the Samara region, Vyacheslav Fedorishchev, at an operational meeting of the regional government, instructed to consider the situation with the delay in salaries of Lada hockey players. Earlier, Chebotarev told that the club had financial problems and the salaries of hockey players for October were not paid.
— Is there a possibility that next season Lada will not compete in the KHL at all?
— We didn’t enter the KHL to film later. We can’t even talk about it – I say this on my own behalf, and the governor’s representative confirmed it. Next year we will have a different team with different outlines, which will be designated both by payroll and by age. We plan to focus on ambitious young players,” Chebotarev told .
Lada returned to the KHL in 2023. Oleg Bratash’s team is in ninth place in the Eastern Conference standings, gaining 21 points in 21 matches.
