Omsk management “Avant-garde” reached an agreement with the Americans Todd Reirden about the appointment to the position of head coach of the club, reports Metaratings.ru.
Note that the contract with the 53-year-old specialist will be signed in the coming days, and his appointment will be announced before November 13. Current Avangard head coach Sergei Zvyagin will retain his place on the coaching staff; his assistant Alexander Svitov could leave the club.
Reirden, 53, won the Stanley Cup with the Washington Capitals as an assistant to Barry Trotz and led the team to the Stanley Cup playoffs twice. As a head coach, the specialist worked with Pittsburgh and the same Washington.
Avangard is in tenth place in the Eastern Conference; the team scored 18 points in 22 matches. On Monday, Avangard will play at home against SKA.
