Agent Shumi Babaev said he was positive about the return of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) youth player draft, but noted that it needed to be done correctly.
In November, the Continental Hockey League announced the creation of a working group to study the possibility of relaunching the draft of young hockey players – the Fair.
“I feel good about the draft, it just has to be done correctly. We must take into account our specificities and understand that clubs train players. If you have your own school, funded by the club and part of the system, this should be an advantage. It is therefore necessary to give the possibility of closing a player in each line. I believe it will be possible to protect three hockey players for a team: a goalkeeper, a defender and an attacker. And if you don’t have your own school, then, of course, there should be no protection for the players,” Babaev said, as quoted by RB Sport.
