Former Russian national team coach Igor Zakharkin admitted that he admires Washington’s Russian striker Alexander Ovechkin .
The Russian forward ranks second in the list of best snipers in regular NHL championships (863 goals), just behind Canadian Wayne Gretzky (894).
— I’m afraid of jinxing it, I don’t want to answer the question of whether Ovechkin will beat Gretzky’s record or not. I just admire what Sasha is doing at this age, his enthusiasm, dedication and leadership qualities as a club captain. I’m just happy and I enjoy watching his performances,” Zakharkin quotes RB Sport.
This season, Ovechkin, 39, scored 18 (10+8) points in 14 regular season games.
