Personalized banner of a former hockey player and director of the Omsk Academy “Avant-garde” Evgueni Khatsey was lifted under the arches of the G‑Drive Arena.
The ceremony took place on Wednesday in Omsk before the FONBET KHL championship match against Moscow “Dynamo” .
Khatsey played for Avangard for four years, becoming Russian champion in 2004 and winner of the European Champions Cup in 2005. He has worked at Avangard since 2018, serving as director of hockey operations as well as head of MHL team development and VHL. He becomes director of Avangard Academy in May 2022.
In May 2023, Khatsey died suddenly at the age of 46.
