Washington forward Alexander Ovechkin congratulated Pittsburgh forward Evgeni Malkin on his 500th National Hockey League goal.
Before Pittsburgh’s home game against Detroit, the club presented Malkin with a golden stick. Video messages from Malkin’s family, as well as famous hockey players, were shown at the arena.
– Hello, Gino. Congratulations on your 500th NHL goal. This is a great achievement. Welcome to the club. Keep it up, I’m happy for you,” Ovechkin said.
Malkin scored his 500th NHL goal on October 17 in a game against Buffalo (6:5). He became the second Russian hockey player to reach this mark. Alexander Ovechkin was the first to do so.
