Defender “Spartacus” Daniel Ivanov after defeating “Severstal” said he was still struggling psychologically to deal with the consequences of the injury suffered at the start of the season.
On Thursday, Spartak defeated Severstal in the home match of the FONBET KHL Championship – 4:1.
Ivanov is 21 years old. The defenseman has not played in the KHL since September 14 due to an injury suffered in a game with Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod.
“I try to forget the moment of the injury, it’s still a little difficult, but the fear is still there. After the injury I didn’t play in the VHL, maybe it wasn’t enough, but no one asked me, the coaches know better.
— What can you say about the missed goal?
“I blame myself, I could have given it more precisely.”
— Spartak had a lot of young defenders in this match. Do you feel the confidence of the technical staff?
“We young people have our own language.” It’s easier for us to understand each other than for older guys who have their own vision of hockey. As we define it, we take action. It’s only better for us if they trust us,” reports a correspondent, reporting Ivanov’s words.
Spartak has scored 37 points in 26 matches and is in second place in the Western Conference standings.
