Russian club goalkeeper Tampa Bay Lightning Andrei Vasilyevsky won the 300th career victory in the regular NHL championships.
On Thursday, the Lightning defeated the Winnipeg Jets at home – 4:1, Vasilevsky stopped 23 of 24 shots and was recognized as the first star of the meeting.
The Russian became the 40th goalie with 300 NHL wins and the fastest to reach this mark – Vasilevskiy needed 490 games for this. Previously, the record belonged to Jacques Plant (521 matches). Among the Russians, Sergei Bobrovsky (404), Evgeniy Nabokov (353) and Nikolai Khabibulin (333) also managed to achieve at least 300 victories.
Vasilevsky is 30 years old, has played for Tampa since 2014 and won the Stanley Cup twice with the team.
