“At the head of the KHL there are now intelligent people who understand the importance of promoting hockey” – Bykov

Former head coach of the Russian national team Vyacheslav Bykov assessed the work of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) in interaction with the media.

— You yourself work in the field that should popularize hockey. Of course, the KHL management must promote the project itself and be in constant contact with the press. I’ve always tried to bridge the gap between the press and hockey players. Hockey players cannot exist without the press, and the press cannot exist without hockey players. We cannot live without each other. The media are precisely the intermediary between the supporter and the club. We have always tried to provide fans with the information they need. But of course there are still work problems within the team. But hockey clubs must be open.

— How does the KHL management now work with the press?

— It is difficult for me to say at what stage relations between the press and hockey clubs in Russia are currently at. But sport needs to be promoted and covered, that’s a fact.

— What do you think about the fact that many shows have appeared over the summer, which attract, among other things, famous comedians to discuss hockey?

— League leaders are not sitting idly by and are trying to promote hockey and the league more and more. Young people need examples on which they can grow. At the head of the KHL there are now smart and intelligent people who understand the importance of promoting sports,” Bykov said, as quoted by Metaratings.ru.

Yaroslavl leads the KHL Western Conference “Locomotive” who scored 48 points in 28 matches. The first in the East is Chelyabinsk “Tractor” who has 39 points after 26 games.
