Washington’s Russian forward Alexander Ovechkin was pleased with the team’s performance in the NHL regular season game against Vegas.
The Capitals won on the road with a score of 5:2, Ovechkin scored a hat-trick. The Russian has 13 goals this season, sharing first place on the best sniper list with Sam Rinehart (Florida) and Leon Draisaitl (Edmonton).
“We played a great game, everyone tried to block the opponent’s shots and didn’t spare each other. The atmosphere was great. I think we played very hard… We’ll accept that and move on,” Ovechkin was quoted as saying by the Capitals press service.
Washington has 25 points in 17 games and ranks third in the Eastern Conference.
Ovechkin has played for Washington since 2005. He ranks second in the list of top snipers in the NHL regular season (866 goals), just behind Canadian Wayne Gretzky (894).
