Russian attacker Washington Capitals Alexander Ovechkin will return to action after the injury “from week to week”, reports the club’s press service.
The Russian was injured on Monday in the third period of the NHL regular season match against Utah (6:2) and was unable to continue the match.
— Ovechkin injured his calf in the game against Utah; it is in weekly status. On Wednesday, he will undergo an additional examination by team doctors in Washington, the club said in a statement.
Ovechkin, 39, leads the NHL’s sniper list this season with 15 goals. In total, he has 868 NHL goals, second only to Wayne Gretzky’s record (894).
