AKM has applied for membership KHL and identified a contractor to bring the Tula Ice Palace into compliance with league requirements, the hockey club’s press service told .
AKM has been playing in the All-Russian Hockey League since 2021. The Tula Arena can accommodate just over three thousand spectators. Earlier, KHL President Alexei Morozov told that the AKM stadium was an obstacle to the club’s entry into the league.
— There have been numerous media reports about the possible entry of AKM into the KHL. The club management reports that it has indeed already submitted an application (for membership). At the same time, we completely agree with the comment of the president of the league Morozov about the inconsistency of the Tula arena with the requirements of the KHL. Currently, a way out of this situation has been found: a contractor has been identified and calculations are underway to bring the Tula Ice Palace into compliance with the requirements of the league.
It should be noted that the club already has experience in such modernization: in just three months, the ice rink in Pervouralsk, which had not been renovated since 1968, was brought up to VHL standards. The backup option is the possible holding of matches in the arenas of the Moscow region.
The management emphasizes the desire of the AKM to join the KHL in financial, structural and personnel terms, the AKM press service told .
