Sergei Ovechkin, the six-year-old son of Washington’s Russian forward Alexandra Ovechkina entered the team’s locker room after the victory against Florida, the Capitals press service reports.
Washington defeated the Panthers 4-1 in an NHL regular season road game. The meeting was held Monday in Sunrise. Ovechkin Jr. entered the locker room with his father and personally congratulated each Washington hockey player on their victory.
It was the Capitals’ first victory since Ovechkin’s injury. Before that, the capital had suffered two consecutive defeats: against Colorado (1:2) and New Jersey (2:3).
