Russian defenseman for the Boston Bruins Nikita Zadorov hit Pittsburgh Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin with his stick during an NHL regular season game.
The incident occurred at the end of the first period. Zadorov was sitting on his team’s bench and hit Malkin, who had his back turned to him, with his stick. Malkin returned the shot, but missed and hit another Boston player. As a result, both Russians received a small fine.
In a post-match interview, Zadorov answered a question about his relationship with Malkin.
– We are old friends. “I’m not going to talk about it any further,” Zadorov said.
The meeting in Boston ended with a score of 2:1 in favor of the guests.
