We had some great times in the playoffs last season, good memories. We won the Calder Cup and became champions. I already have confidence that I can take leading roles, act as a leader there. And not just as a beginner, when I’m just learning how to play this hockey.
— Did Alexander Ovechkin say goodbye to you before NHL games? He was very happy when you scored in Florida.
“He always gives advice – like, shoot more, play hockey.
— How did you perceive the moment of his injury? Was there any dirt from the opponent?
“Whether it’s a dirty game or not, I don’t know, I won’t say anything.” But Sasha gained good momentum, he scored a lot. God grant he comes back soon and starts scoring goals again.
— Ovechkin goes on a trip with Washington and maintains team spirit. But is there a captain missing on the ice?
— When Sasha is with you in the locker room and during the whole 60 minutes of the match, that’s one thing. But when you see him before and after the match, it’s completely different. I think it’s easier for Ovechkin in terms of recovery when you’re still with the team and you’re not thinking about what hurts you there. It is likely that rehabilitation will be faster in this way, even from a moral point of view.
— How did you celebrate the American holiday Thanksgiving?
— My wife and I didn’t really join the tradition, but we celebrated here with friends. There was roast turkey. We ate, sat, talked,” Miroshnichenko told .
On November 23, it was learned that Ovechkin would be out for four to six weeks with a fractured left fibula. The 39-year-old hockey player was injured during the NHL regular season match against Utah (6:2).
