Athletistic / Hockey “Cupid” general manager Roman Kramar has commented on the move of Latvian goalkeeper Janis Kalnins to the Far Eastern club.

“During the whole negotiation process, we kept in touch with Janis and his agent. Their position was absolutely clear to us. Therefore, we had no such fears.

In fact, we quickly found a common language: we needed this player, and Janis wanted to play for Amur.

On the part of the player and the club, everything was done in accordance with KHL regulations and IIHF international transfer rules.

But now is such a time that it is impossible to foresee all the pitfalls,” Kramar said as quoted by TASS.

Recall that the signing of the contract between Amur and Kalninsh became known on July 6. Earlier, the Latvian Hockey Federation released a statement that it would not involve hockey players employed in Russia and Belarus to play for the national team.

In the KHL, Kalnins played for Dinamo Riga and Jokerit. Last season, the goalkeeper started in the Swedish “Veksjo Lakers” and finished in the Finnish club “Tappara”.
