During a working visit to the Novosibirsk region, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Chernyshenko demanded an internal check on the non-compliance with the deadlines for the construction of an ice rink in Novosibirsk. The facility was expected to go live in September 2022, but the arena’s readiness at the moment is no more than 70%.

– Well, not finished. But we have our own high quality arena. It will just be the second, much newer and better one. We wait and do not suffer if the arena is not completed in time. We do our job and we have nothing to do with the arena. Prepare for the season.

“But I would really like to move to a new arena as soon as possible.

– Of course, you always want to do it faster, but you have to do it right. It is impossible to move overnight, it is a professional club. Moving is a long process. Of course, we are waiting for a new arena.

– In general, there is a link with the government of the region, what are the deadlines for carrying out the work?

We don’t discuss these things. The regional government is doing all the work and we are preparing for the season. We are not up to it at all. We have done a complete overhaul of our Ice Palace. God forbid if there are two good rinks in Novosibirsk that meet IIHF requirements for hosting international matches, Fastovsky told .

The construction of the ice rink is underway within the framework of the federal project “Sport is the norm of life”. The object with a total area of ​​​​55 thousand square meters. m will include the main arena for 10.5 thousand spectators and a training arena with stands for 200 spectators.

The new KHL season begins on September 1.
