Athletistic / Hockey St. Petersburg Governor and Legislative Assembly Leader Alexander Belsky presented government awards to winners and laureates of the Winter Olympics and Paralympic Winter Games, St. Petersburg’s Vedomosti reports.

Hockey players Nikita Gusev and Alexander Samonov, who won silver medals, also received awards. Athletes received “Honored Master of Sports of Russia” certificates and badges, certificates for cash prizes, letters of thanks and memorable gifts. The size of the prize for the silver medals of the Olympic Games amounted to 2.5 million rubles each.

Note that goalkeeper Alexander Samonov did not spend a single minute on the ice during the entire Olympic tournament. Nikita Gusev played six games at the Olympics, during which he made six assists.
