18 year old guard Daniel Dorneanu debuted for CSKA in the final of the Moscow Mayor’s Cup. In a conversation with , he spoke about his plans for the season and the experience of working with the head coach of CSKA Sergei Fedorov .
CSKA won the Chinese Kunlun Red Star 4:1 in the tournament final. Dorneanu came on in the 51st minute and conceded a goal.
– It was a big surprise for me that they let me play for CSKA. I found out about it just before going on the ice, – admits Dorneanu. There was a bit of excitement, but I got over it. I am very happy for all our guys, for the fact that our team won the tournament. It’s a good start to a great season.
– What tasks do you set for yourself personally?
– My goals are more related to the MHL championship. We will try not to do worse than last year. Or maybe we will fight for the Cup.
– There is no goal yet to enter the main team of the army?
– Your chances must be assessed objectively. CSKA already have two excellent goalkeepers – Sharychenkov and Reideborn. They are doing really well. And while I try to gain a foothold in youth. Maybe something will fall from the “tower”.
– What emotions did you feel while playing in the team of the great Sergei Fedorov? What do you think of him as a coach?
– Fedorov is for me a coach of a completely different level. It seems to me that his working methods are different from other Russian specialists, and that appeals to me.
– What is the difference?
— In personal communication with the players. It gives settings that I haven’t heard before.
