Defender S.K.A. Igor Ozhiganov after the traditional team presentation, held at the Hockey City sports complex before the start of the new KHL season, he planted an apple tree with his son and spoke about the state of preparation for the start of the season regular.
— Did you have to plant trees during the last SKA presentations?
— Yes, I have already planted three trees here during this period.
– Remember which ones are yours, will you find them among others?
– I remember where I planted in the driveway last year, but in the past – to be honest, no.
Has your son ever held a shovel and been involved in anything like this?
– The son took a shovel to the country for fun, now he was digging, watering. He does whatever comes into his head.
– If we turn to hockey, the new season will take place in an unusual format, in the regular season the teams will have 68 games each. Many hockey players say it’s better to play more than practice. Do you agree with your colleagues?
– Those guys who went to the Eurotour had about the same number of games, so there’s nothing special here. I think there will always be a rotation, in some games they will have a break. Not an overall number of matches added, to be honest. It turns out that the season was 60 games, now there are 8 more.
– The team won the Puchkov tournament, less than a week before the start of the regular season. How are you and the team as a whole prepared for the season?
— I think the quality of the game we have is good. We won eight games out of ten. I think we are in good shape for the season. I myself am ready as always. I won’t say it’s one hundred percent, somewhere around 95 – there’s a week left before the season, I’ll only have that 5%.
– Enter the season with the slogan “All or nothing!” — aiming only for the Gagarin Cup?
– I think every self-respecting athlete and ambitious person should have the slogan “All or nothing!” There is only one goal for the season.
SKA’s regular season kicks off on September 3 with a home game against Salavat Yulaev.
