Athletistic / Hockey “Dallas” owner Tom Gagliardi said he doesn’t approve of the practice of writing big bucks to hockey players whose rookie contract has expired.

“The guy is in his third season on a rookie contract and is scoring 40 goals and now he wants to make $7 million. If you want to sign him for a long time he will ask for even more. The stars take all the money, and the salaries of middle players are reduced.

I think the league is full of million dollar players who are the best on their teams, and the star players take the biggest slice of the pie. I’m not a fan of that, but such are the laws of the market, that’s how it works,” Gagliardi told the Cam & Strick podcast.
