Suleimanov’s defense told the court that the intermediary himself pushed the athlete to pay a bribe. Suleimanov declined to participate in the debate, saying he was not ready for the final word.

The court adjourned until September 5, where the hockey player will say the last word and the judge will deliver the verdict.

In July three Russian hockey players were caught trying to pay a bribe to be exempted from conscription into the army, criminal case documents were filed in court of the Leninsky district of Ufa. The court received documents from criminal cases under part 4 of article 291 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (bribe) against Mikhail Vorobyov, Anvar Suleymanov and Vladislav Lukin.
