Yaroslavl Lokomotiv and other KHL clubs pay tribute to 11-year-old plane crash victims

Yaroslavl Hockey Club “Locomotive” remembers the victims of the tragedy of September 7, 2011.

Lokomotiv was supported on social media by CSKA Moscow, Spartak, Dynamo, SKA, Dynamo Minsk, SKA St. Petersburg, Metallurg Magnitogorsk, Avtomobilist, Sibir, Sochi, Neftekhimik, Severstal, Admiral, Ak Bars, Avangard.

In a plane crash on September 7, 2011, the players and club headquarters of Yaroslavl Lokomotiv died, who flew to Minsk for the opening match of the next KHL season with Dynamo. Of the 45 people on board the plane (37 passengers and 8 crew members), two survived – 1 crew member (aircraft and radio maintenance engineer Alexander Sizov) and 1 passenger (hockey player Alexander Galimov) , who died 5 days later from his injuries . The remaining 43 people died directly at the crash site. Lokomotiv withdrew from the KHL in the 2011/12 season due to the death of the main team.
