“Alexander Ovechkin left Russia today. Today he flew to America to prepare for the NHL season with Washington,” Chistyakov said, quoting SE.
Washington Capitals training camp begins Sept. 22.
The 36-year-old Russian signed a new contract with the Capitals in 2021 for $47.5 million.
Last season, Ovechkin scored 90 (50 + 40) points in 77 NHL regular season games, and in the playoffs – 6 (1 + 5) points in six games.
