Athletistic/Hockey. Russian goalkeeper “New York Rangers” Igor Shesterkin set the club record for shots reflected in one game.
In a first-round Stanley Cup playoff game with the Pittsburgh Penguins (3-4 away), Shesterkin stopped 79 of 83 shots on goal, the most in Rangers history.
The brilliant play of the Russian goalkeeper did not help the team win – in the third overtime, Shesterkin’s compatriot Evgeni Malkin scored the decisive goal in the 106th minute and brought victory to the Penguins. The second game in the series between these rivals will take place on May 6. The match starts at 02:00 Moscow time.
