Slovak Ice Hockey Federation may lose state support due to decision to call up KHL players to national team

The Slovak Ice Hockey Federation could be deprived of public funding due to the decision to allow KHL players to play for the national team, reports Sport.cz .

Earlier in September, the organization announced that it would continue to call hockey players playing in Russia to the national team. The Federation affirms that KHL players who come to the national team do not violate any agreement or law, and also stresses that it is inadmissible that they are attacked.

“We will consider the question of making a state contribution to the federation, which also aims to support the national team, and we will study the legality of expenses for these players,” noted the Slovak Ministry of Education, of Science and Sports.

Currently, seven Slovak players play in the KHL: goalkeepers Patrik Rybar (Spartak, Moscow) and Adam Huska (Torpedo, Nizhny Novgorod), defenders Michal Tchaikovsky (Siberia, Novosibirsk) and Kristian Jarosh (Avangard, Omsk), forwards Michal Krishtof (Admiral, Vladivostok), Adam Lischka (Severstal, Cherepovets) and Samuel Buchek (Neftekhimik, Nizhnekamsk).
