“Tractor” announced the signing of a contract with the Canadian goalkeeper Andrew Hammond according to the press service of the inhabitants of Chelyabinsk.
The deal with the 34-year-old goalkeeper is calculated until the end of the 2022/23 season.
— We are happy to announce that today we officially signed Canadian goalkeeper Andrew Hammond to a one-year contract. As I said before, this goalie has a lot of experience playing in North America. Hammond is a fairly tall goalkeeper, his main strengths being positioning and mobility in goal. In the next few days, Andrew’s visa issue should be resolved, and after that he will immediately fly to Chelyabinsk, said Traktor General Director Ivan Savin.
Hammond played in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Ottawa Senators, Colorado Avalanche, Buffalo Sabres, Minnesota Wild, Montreal Canadiens and New Jersey Devils. During the offseason, the Canadian was under a trial contract with the Florida Panthers.
In total, Hammond played in 72 NHL games, including 5 playoff games.
