Chairman of the Board of Omsk Hockey Club “Avant-garde” Alexander Krylov said that the head coach of the team Dmitry Ryabykin does not feel the pressure due to the arrival of the club’s ex-coach Bob Hartley .
Ryabykin was appointed head coach of Avangard in early May, replacing Hartley, who has managed the club for the past 4 years and led it to the Gagarin Cup in 2021. Avangard lost all 5 games at the start of the new season of the KHL championship. Earlier, announced Hartley’s arrival to work at the club’s academy. It was clarified that his visit was unrelated to possible changes in the coaching staff.
Why is Bob Hartley here?
– Bob and I have agreed that after his contract ends, we will find a way to use his tremendous experience to raise the level of our coaching staff at the academy. I’m sure it’s not a question of infrastructure, or where people play, but above all of the coaching staff. We invited Bob as a consultant, he had his own kids summer camp in Canada every summer. He arrived, put down his bag and went on the ice. At 8 a.m. he has breakfast at the academy, at 9 a.m. he is ready to go on the ice. We are fortunate to be able to use his work.
Don’t you think Dmitry Ryabykin is feeling pressure with the arrival of Bob Hartley?
– The most positive thing in our team is openness, we don’t do anything behind our backs. Dimitri knows exactly why Hartley came. I don’t think he feels any pressure. He feels bad about working, he feels he is not managing the team well, but we help him and we trust him. Inside the team, inside Avangard, it is not believed that he came to sit down or criticize, – the press service of Avangard quotes Krylov.
