Kai Trump Shares Update on Mother Vanessa's Cancer

Kai Trump shared a positive update on her mother Vanessa's breast cancer recovery at the 2026 ESPY Awards on Wednesday night. Speaking on the red carpet at the Lincoln Center in New York City, the 19-year-old golf standout told Page Six that her mother is doing better following a recent surgery.

"My mom's doing good," Kai told the outlet. "She's doing better."

Vanessa, 48, went public with her breast cancer diagnosis in May before confirming last month that she had undergone surgery and was preparing for the second stage of her medical treatment. The former model shares Kai and her four younger siblings, Donald, 17, Tristan, 14, Spencer, 13, and Chloe, 11, with her ex-husband, Donald Trump Jr.

Support From Tiger Woods

Throughout her health battle, Vanessa has been heavily supported by her boyfriend, golf legend Tiger Woods, whom she started dating in 2025. An insider recently revealed that the 50-year-old 15-time major champion has been staying focused on supporting Vanessa throughout her recovery after his own recent medical and legal issues.

A source told People Magazine that Woods has been amazing during Vanessa's recent diagnosis. The insider noted that Vanessa's needs and issues have taken Tiger's thoughts outside of his own legal, medical and personal struggles, which has been good for him, adding that he has given her a lot of love even while away working on himself.

A source in Florida also told People that the couple is optimistic about her treatments. The source added that while Vanessa is anxious like anyone diagnosed with the disease, she remains strong, eager to move beyond it, loved, and supported by advanced healthcare facilities.

Golf Advice and College Plans

During her red carpet appearance, Kai also opened up about the invaluable golf advice she receives from both Woods and her grandfather, President Donald Trump.

'My mom's doing good. She's doing better', Kai said at the ESPY's on Wednesday night

According to the recent high school graduate, Woods keeps his advice simple, telling her to "Be yourself, trust the process."

Meanwhile, her grandfather offered a more seasoned perspective on the sport, telling her, "Enjoy every moment of it. It's going to be rocky, but enjoy every moment of it."

Kai will take that advice to heart this fall when she heads to Florida to attend the University of Miami and compete on the women's collegiate golf team.
