Leeds United thrashed Newcastle United 4-1 at Elland Road, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin again central to the rout as Daniel Farke's side climbed into third place in the Premier League.
Three goals in 14 first-half minutes put the result beyond doubt before the break. An own goal from Miley opened the scoring in the 32nd minute, Jayden Bogle made it 2-0 three minutes later with a goal that had looked destined for Calvert-Lewin, and Calvert-Lewin himself added a third in first-half stoppage time.
Noah Okafor put Leeds 4-0 up in the 59th minute with what was singled out as the pick of the night's goals, before Bazoumana Toure grabbed a consolation for Newcastle in the 90th minute. The final whistle confirmed a win that kept Leeds unbeaten after four Premier League games this season and lifted them above Hull City into third place, behind only Manchester City and Arsenal.
Calvert-Lewin's redemption story
Calvert-Lewin has now scored or assisted 18 of Leeds' 55 goals since the start of last season, involved in 32.73 per cent of the team's output, according to figures from Betmaster Sportsbooks. The next-best total in that period belongs to Anton Stach, with nine goal involvements, half of Calvert-Lewin's tally.
The striker, who joined Leeds after leaving Everton, became only the second Leeds player to score in five consecutive Premier League appearances at Elland Road, after Mark Viduka managed the feat between March and August 2003.
Bogle explains mix-up over his goal
The second goal, initially assumed to be a Calvert-Lewin header, was awarded to Bogle. Speaking to Sky Sports, Bogle said: "I didn't know anything about it! I said to the ref I didn't fancy telling him [Calvert-Lewin] at half-time. Even during the game he was still a bit raging. He's happy with the points though."
Leeds' dominant first half
Once Miley's own goal went in, Leeds laid siege to the Newcastle goal. It was the first time since May 2001 that Leeds had scored three or more goals in a Premier League first half at Elland Road. The game was effectively over by the interval.
Craig Hope, watching for the Daily Mail at Elland Road, said: "It's a brutal reality check for Newcastle. A first defeat of the season, but one that does not come as a surprise. They were weak all over the park tonight. That early-season resilience and bounce has faded fast."
Miserable night for Newcastle
Newcastle, under new manager Matthias Jaissle, had impressed with wins over Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur in their opening two matches of the season. But the display at Elland Road suggested the new-manager bounce had worn off, with the defence overwhelmed by Leeds' energy and the attack offering little until Leeds had already scored four.
Jamie Carragher, the former Liverpool defender, told Sky Sports: "Leeds are fifth in the Premier League table since December. That should make Newcastle feel better as it has been a bad night for them when the world was watching. They have been beaten up by a really good Premier League team."
Okafor caps the rout
Okafor's fourth goal of the night went in off the post and was described as the pick of the goals. Toure's late consolation for Newcastle failed to dampen the mood among Leeds supporters, even as Farke was seen remonstrating with his players after conceding it. At the final whistle, home fans inside Elland Road sang "I predict a riot" in celebration.
Leeds climb the table
The win leaves Leeds with eight points from a possible 12 after four games, their best start to a Premier League season in years, sitting in the top four alongside Manchester City and Arsenal.
