Former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson recalled catching his ex-wife Robin Givens with actor Brad Pitt before Pitt became famous. Tyson, now 59, shared the story during an appearance on 'This Past Weekend,' a podcast hosted by Theo Von, after being asked if anyone had ever stolen his girlfriend.
Tyson married actress Givens in 1988 before they divorced a year later. Speaking on the podcast, Tyson said, "That's an interesting story. He didn't steal her from me, but me and my wife were going through a divorce." He claimed that at the time, they were sleeping together by night while "fighting in the papers" by day.
Tyson recalled going over to the house one day when nobody was home. "Then, [I saw her] driving up the road with the BMW that I bought her," Tyson said, noticing someone else in the car.
Tyson recalled, "I thought it was one of her friends from 'Head of the Class,'" referring to the sitcom Givens appeared in as Darlene Merriman between 1986 and 1991. "But it wasn't one of her friends. It was Brad Pitt," Tyson added. "He wasn't Brad Pitt yet. I didn't know who the f*** he was... he didn't even have a car."
Tyson's Previous Accounts
This is not the first time Tyson has told a version of the story. He once claimed that he was "mad as hell" after spotting Pitt, who back then "was like a beach bum, a little nerdy."
In his 2013 book Undisputed Truth, Tyson wrote, "You had to see the look on his face. He looked like he was ready to receive his last rites." By 1989, Tyson was world heavyweight champion and considered "The Baddest Man on the Planet." The most recent fight of his boxing career came against YouTuber Jake Paul.
Response From Robin Givens
Givens has addressed the alleged incident in the past, confirming that Tyson once saw her "pulling up in the driveway" with Pitt, who made a guest appearance in 'Head of the Class.' She explained, "We were coming from like a screening or something."
However, the actress denied claims once made by Tyson that he caught her and Pitt in bed together while they were still married. Speaking years later on 'Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen,' Givens stated that "[That] never, ever, ever happened."
