French center Moustapha Fall has joined Panathinaikos after leaving arch-rivals Olympiacos, speaking at the club's Media Day about his ambitions.
Fall stated that his primary goal remains winning the EuroLeague, describing victory as the fundamental objective of Panathinaikos. He noted that when a club possesses a squad of such quality, winning is always the expectation. He added that this ambition is identical to the target he held while at Olympiacos, expressing hope that his new team can achieve European success.
The French big man moved between the two Greek basketball powerhouses after spending five years with Olympiacos. The transition across Athens represents a notable shift in European basketball, given the intense long-standing rivalry between the two capital clubs.
Addressing his new surroundings at Telekom Center Athens, Fall praised the facilities available at the arena. He highlighted that the complex even features an in-house chef, an amenity he revealed he had never experienced at any previous club in his career, describing the setup so far as very good.
Fall also noted that adapting to his new environment is made easier by the French contingent already present in the squad. He explained that having familiar teammates helps players establish themselves faster and absorb tactical concepts, expressing confidence that integration will proceed smoothly.
EuroLeague Ambitions and Fitness
Dismissing suggestions that he has something to prove following his high-profile transfer, Fall said Panathinaikos officials already knew his value before completing the deal. He stated that he worked as hard as possible to achieve optimal physical condition, adding that he hopes this preparation translates directly onto the court.
Reflecting on his departure after a lengthy tenure, Fall stated that his mind is now clear and that he feels fully prepared for new opportunities and challenges. He acknowledged that five years is a long period to spend at one club before making such a move.
On the topic of team chemistry, Fall predicted that cohesion would develop easily among the players. He stressed that the squad must inject physical toughness into their playing style to produce consistent results throughout the campaign.
Regarding his fitness level, Fall reported that he feels good and is actively taking part in training sessions. However, he emphasized that training alone cannot replace competitive match rhythm, explaining that game action demands a different level of sharpness. He added that his priority is to regain full match fitness as rapidly as possible once games begin.
Court Memories and Passport Status
When asked about playing in front of the Panathinaikos fanbase, Fall admitted he is very excited. He explained that he wants to erase his last memory on the court at Telekom Center Athens from his time with Olympiacos and focus on building positive new memories in green.
In a message directed to the club's supporters, Fall urged fans to attend home games and generate as much noise as possible in the arena. He promised that the players would fight relentlessly on the court and give their utmost effort for the fans, hoping they can achieve their shared goals.
Fall also addressed ongoing reports regarding a potential Greek passport. He clarified that he has received no updates on the situation so far, noting that any new developments will become common knowledge in due course and advising everyone to wait and see.
