Napoli host Arsenal at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium in Naples on Wednesday for the opening match of the 2026/27 UEFA Champions League season.
The first-round fixture is scheduled to kick off at 16:00 Brasilia time as both European clubs begin their campaigns in the competition.
Napoli enter the match under pressure following an irregular start to their domestic campaign in the Italian Championship. After securing a 2-0 victory against Genoa on the opening weekend, the Italian side suffered consecutive league defeats, falling 2-1 to Como and 3-2 against Inter Milan.
The Italian team will also be without midfielder Scott McTominay, who has been ruled out of the fixture. Napoli are seeking to recover their form in front of their home supporters.
Arsenal Form and European Ambitions
Arsenal enter the contest in strong form. The team coached by Mikel Arteta travel to Italy as the reigning Premier League champions after winning the English top-flight title.
The London club were also runners-up in last season's Champions League, reaching the final of Europe's top competition. Arsenal prepare for Wednesday's match following a 2-1 victory over Chelsea in domestic action, with Arteta's side seeking to start the European tournament with three points.
The UEFA Champions League is Europe's premier club football tournament, bringing together the leading teams from across the continent. Italian club Napoli play their home matches at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium in Naples, named in honour of the Argentine football icon who led the team to historic titles.
The venue in Naples, located in southern Italy, is celebrated for its intense home support. The stadium was officially renamed after Maradona in 2020 to commemorate his deep legacy with the club and the city.
Arsenal are based in London and compete in the English Premier League, managed by Arteta since 2019. Scottish international McTominay features for Napoli after previously playing in English football.
