Athletistic/ Figure Skating. Russian figure skaters Tiffany Zagorsky and Jonathan Gureyro, who practice ice dancing, have announced the suspension of their sports careers.
“Lately many of you may have seen that we weren’t very active and laconic. Last year, Tiffany was diagnosed with a serious illness, which prevented her from playing fully last season. After this difficult period, Tiffany decided to take a break to fully recover “It took longer than expected. But now she’s starting to feel good again. It is important to note that due to current events, we do not have the opportunity to compete at international level at the moment, so we have decided not to rush the recovery processes and take a break this season.” wrote Gureiro on one of the social networks, among others.
Tiffany Zagorski and Jonathan Gureyro have teamed up since the 2014/2015 season. The couple have four victories at the Russian Cup stages (2014/2015, two – 2015/2016, 2020/2021), two Russian Cup final victories (2015/2016, 2016/2017), two bronze ( 2018, 2020) and a silver medal (2021) from the Russian championship.
At the international level, the skaters have won the Budapest tournament (2015/2016) and the Warsaw Cup (2018/2019). The highest position of Zagorski and Gureyro at the World Cup is 8th place at the 2018 World Cup. At the European Championships, the couple did not take a place higher than 6th place (2018, 2020) . At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, figure skaters took 13th place.
