President of the All-Russian Swimming Federation (VFPU), four-time Olympic champion Vladimir Salnikov Awarded the Medal of the Order of Merit to the Fatherland, 2nd class.
Prize to Salnikov during the plenary session “We are together. Sport. New Reality” in Kuzbass was presented by Igor Levitin, Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation.
“I am very happy, I feel proud to be in front of you. I am grateful to our president for the tireless support of sport. In my case, swimming. Our successes have become more visible not only on the sports fields, but also in terms of the popularity of sports,” Salnikov said.
Salnikov received this award for his contribution to the development of physical culture and sports.
In 2001, Salnikov was named one of the best swimmers of the 20th century by the Fort Lauderdale International Swimming Hall of Fame. For merits in the development of physical culture and sports and many years of conscientious work, he has already been awarded the Order of Honor (2010).
