Marta Fedina: Russians write nonsense to me, they say rejoice that you take medals until there are no strongest

At the European Championships, a Ukrainian won gold in individual competitions

World Champion and 11-time European Champion in Artistic Swimming Marta Fedina spoke about communication with Russian athletes and fans after the start of the war in Ukraine.

“Are Russian sports fans attacking on social networks? They attack, but if I want, I will answer, if I don’t want to, I don’t write anything. I just think how stupid it is. Why argue with them? They write me some nonsense. For example: “Rejoice that you take medals until there are no strongest ones.” I answered: “Rejoice before we put you in a black bag.”

“I don’t even want to hear anything about Russian athletes. We can say that sometimes we contacted representatives of the Russian Federation at competitions, but no more. We’ve never been friends. They just followed each other on Instagram, but after February 24, I realized that they weren’t people.”

“Because people express some kind of sympathy, even if we are not friends. People who didn’t know us supported us. For example, in the same Italy. They asked how we are. And from Russia, everyone as one began to write about the “special operation”, “help”, I understood everything and I don’t even want to know anything about them. They are so cowardly there, so I don’t think they will go to the front somewhere.”

Recall that at the European Championships 2022 in Rome, Marta Fedina won two gold medals in individual competitions, winning in free and technical solo. At the 2022 World Championships in Budapest, Fedina won two silver medals in individual events.

Ukraine is opposing a full-scale Russian invasion for the 219th day.
