The WFHG plans to introduce two new disciplines in rhythmic gymnastics

The All-Russian Federation of Rhythmic Gymnastics (VFCG) is planning a project to introduce two new disciplines – gymnastic duets and trios, according to the organization’s website.

As stated in a letter to regional federations and executive authorities in the field of physical culture and sports, Ekaterina Sirotina, head coach of the Russian junior team, has been appointed responsible for the development and promotion of a new direction in terms of developing rules and conducting competitions. The letter was signed by the president of the WFHG Irina Viner-Usmanova.

Currently, in rhythmic gymnastics, athletes perform exercises with a rope, hoop, ball, sledgehammer and ribbon. Five gymnasts participate in group exercises.

At the Olympic Games in rhythmic gymnastics, two sets of awards are played – in the individual and collective all-around.
