Main coach national team of Ukraine in artistic gymnastics Gennady Sartinsky commented on the composition of the team on World Cup 2022. European 2020 champion Petr Pakhnyuk did not get into the application, but the leaders of the men’s team Igor Radivilov and Ilya Kovtun will perform.
“Pakhnyuk is now in Italy with children. What will happen next, I don’t know. We need to prepare the team for next year, because it will also be qualifying. At the European Championship, you need to get into the top 13 teams in order to get a ticket to the World Cup.
“Pakhnyuk is an experienced gymnast, he can always perform like that. And young people need to be run in. So that they can compete in such competitions and compete with other gymnasts. That’s why this team. What we have, we have. There is only one task – to get to the Olympic Games, to pass the selection. We need youth. So we are preparing them, trying new gymnasts. The girls have the same problems.
“Ilya Kovtun has been a team leader for two years now. Therefore, young people follow him – all the more, they train together. Radivilov is now in Koncha-Zaspa, he is training and from there he will leave for the World Cup.”
The composition of the Ukrainian national team for the 2022 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships:
Men: Ilya Kovtun, Bogdan Suprun, Nikita Melnikov, Pantely Kolodiy, Igor Radivilov.
Women: Margarita Kozlovskaya, Diana Savelyeva, Elizaveta Gubareva, Valeria Osipova, Yulia Kasyanenko.
The World Championship kicks off in Liverpool on October 29th and runs until November 6th. The organizers will give away 14 sets of awards.
