Plushenko appreciated the performances of his academy skaters at the junior training camp in Novogorsk

Double Olympic figure skating champion Yevgeny Plushenko spoke about the skaters of his academy, who played at the junior training camp at the Olympic base in Novogorsk.

Program shows were opened by single skaters. On September 28 and 29, they presented short, free programs. The camp brought together 27 athletes: 12 boys and 15 girls.

– Six figure skaters from our academy came to the training camp: Veronika Zhilina, Maria Mazur, Kamilla Nelyubova, Sofia Titova, Kirill and Nikita Sarnovsky. Masha, Camilla and Nikita are taking part in such a training camp for the first time.

Nikita Sarnovsky, as a debutante, was understandably worried at the box office. I did well in the short program. Well done. Of course, there is something to seek and move forward. We must continue to work. The short program “The Sound of Silence” was directed by Leonid Sviridenko. Free on the music of Steve Jablonsky “Leave Planet Earth Alone”. Dmitry Mikhailov helped the athlete to work on the programs.

Nikita did all five quads last year. And then he got hurt. Now we are slowly recovering. Everything is progressive, everything is progressive. I really like Nikita for his, let’s say, recklessness in training. He is young, but with time he will become a very good athlete.

Masha Mazur and Kamilla Nelyubova are also in training for the first time. Masha, by the way, recently won the championship in Moscow, performing for the first time a quadruple sheepskin coat. Masha also makes a quadruple salchow. Last season, when she came to see me, she jumped triples. Over the past few months, our entire team has done a great job. The girl is hardworking, sets serious tasks for herself. Masha has interesting programs put together by Dima Mikhailov and Lena Radionova. Short – “Malaguena”, free – “Cinema Paradiso”. To be honest, I’m satisfied with the athlete’s progress and the work done. Masha should really show a good level this season.

Camilla Nelyubova has been training with us for two years. The athlete represents the Krasnodar Territory. She has a short program “Crazy in Love”, a free program – “Onward & Upward”, “Desolation” by Tommee Profitt.

By the way, two days ago, during a training session in Novogorsk, Camilla did a quadruple lutz for the first time! And at the rentals, she showed a good level, worthy skating. Plushenko also spoke about cooperation with coach Leonid Sviridenko.

– Leonid is actively helping us now, he comes, rolls guys. Choreographer Sergey Verbilo also works with our group – he unrolls, mounts programs, finishes everything, a very good specialist. I have already spoken about the choreographer Vladimir Anatolyevich Magilda. He is a real find for us. Vladimir Anatolyevich was a close friend of choreographer David Avdysh, who worked with me and staged wonderful programs for me. Vladimir Anatolyevich graduated from the Leningrad Conservatory, taught for many years, trained more than a thousand ballet dancers. He is an excellent choreographer and director. Recently lived in Sweden, now back home. He has staged shows, ballets here and abroad. He is a real professional who teaches athletes all the subtleties and wisdom, up to the correct breathing.

It is clear that learning processes are not momentary, they are work for the future. But I’m glad I found a very good specialist. This is how the team is formed little by little. There are a lot of athletes. Athletes are good. The Federation helps us, which is important. We are not in a hurry, we do everything gradually, step by step. There is a time for everything,” Plushenko added.
