Teryushkov on the decision of the FINA Congress: “Russia should reconsider its participation in the IOC and international federations”

New changes in the rules of the International Swimming Federation (FINA) concerning synchronized swimming once again raise the question of the advisability of Russia’s participation in both modern international federations and the International Olympic Committee (IOC). ), member of the State Duma Sports Committee says and Physical Culture Roman Tereshkov .

The Technical Congress of the International Swimming Federation (FINA) has approved changes to the rules of this sport. They concern the content of the programs, the evaluations and the judging system. He also voted for the possibility of including men in group competitions. Previously, group competitions at the World Championships, European Championships and Olympic Games were exclusively for women. The men have only played as a mixed pair at the World and European Championships.

“Today’s decision by FINA to change the rules for synchronized swimming speaks volumes about the modern Olympic movement. Allowing men in all-female sport is the path to global gender equality in world sport under the IOC’s strategic human rights decisions adopted in September. All this leads to the so-called “Open Games for All” in Paris. Open not to athletes from Russia or Belarus, but to representatives of the LGBT community, sick and unhealthy people. Should we be in these organizations? I think that’s a very big question.

I think we need to rethink in principle our participation in the IOC and sports federations. We have to find the strength within ourselves to say, “we are not on the same path” and create our own organizations. We see what is happening in world sport. It is obvious that the IOC parasitizes the Olympic movement. Why does the IOC think they are the heirs of the ancient Greek Olympic Games? It’s not clear to me.

In my opinion, it is worth building its own international sports community, which will be based on the recognized principles of Olympism and on the spiritual and moral values common to everyone except the West and, especially all of them, the United States. The Olympic movement can be revived within the framework of the same SCO, one of the most attractive global platforms. Not immediately, gradually, but in 5 to 10 years most countries will join us. Because they are unlikely to want to compete with transgender people under one roof,” Teryushkov told a correspondent.
